Stories Worth Sharing

Writing is a form of art—a form of expression that most cannot simply utter from their
mouths. It’s pouring one’s heart out onto a blank sheet of paper or an empty screen, emotions set
free and thoughts released. The journey isn’t always a simple one, for the author must first fall in
love with the words and the order in which they are arranged, though often times the task proves
to be an impossible feat. The author crafts a story in which they share with the world—a story
that defies all things real and ordinary. They can create worlds, or even recreate the one we
already dwell in.
Though it comes in many styles, the art of writing is one that is constantly overlooked,
despite it surrounding us in our daily lives. Whether it be in the form of sentences in the
textbooks we students fix our eyes on for countless hours a week, pages in the document of a
research paper, or the email draft sent as a reminder to finish a big project, we see words crafted
together to create different stories each day. However, the reasons mentioned are why we have so
little storytellers. It’s because writing, in so many ways, is viewed as a task or assignment rather
than a choice. Yet these choices surround us in a much more inconspicuous way within the
wedding vows spoken by husband and wife or the scripts of the movies that bring us
entertainment day and night. Storybooks didn’t just appear through the magic they contain in
their thin pages; they came from a human mind—one that belongs to a person brave enough to
express their thoughts and ideas.
It’s never an easy journey, though I don’t quite believe it’s meant to be. However, I do
believe that the harder we fight for a story’s existence, the more it can impact the world. What
will forever be the greatest and most beautiful example of this is Jesus’ story—the story where
He fought for us on the cross so that one day our spirits will forever dwell in God’s almighty

presence. A writer’s world is much like real life, filled with challenges that come in the forms of
writer’s block and self-doubt. However, there is never a moment in which a story should not be
shared, for one simple statement can completely alter a person’s life. Jesus’ does every day, and
if I can lift just one person up through my story the way that He has countless times, then I’d tell
my story time and time again until it reaches that one person. That being said, pick up a pencil or
open up a laptop, for a simple story can hold more meaning than you’d think.
